The latest newsletter from the National Restaurant Association featured a great article all about Norovirus – what it is, what are the symptoms, and how to prevent it. Cases of Norovirus spiked high at the end of 2024 and continuing into 2025 with its feature symptoms of diarrhea and stomach pains. It’s a highly contagious Big 6 Pathogen and over 50% of annual reported cases of foodborne illness are due to it. The virus can travel through the air, but most commonly it’s caused by poor personal hygiene and contaminated water.
Some of the most important things we can do to prevent Norovirus are to: wash our hands often and well, don’t work while sick, and make sure to clean and disinfect areas contaminated with bodily fluids.
